Improved models for organic aerosols
Organic aerosols have human health implications and also affect climate – indeed they were cited in the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group 1 report as the "dominant uncertainty in radiative forcing". The materials are made up of primary organic aerosols – particles emitted from sources such as car engines and forest fires – and secondary organic aerosols, which are particles formed by the oxidation of gases in the atmosphere.
