Failed geoengineering schemes could create dangerous temperature spikes

The climate system responds fast enough to reduced sunlight input that use of geoengineering schemes that block solar radiation could be delayed until "dangerous" climate change is imminent, according to researchers from the Carnegie Institution of Washington, US. But subsequent failure or withdrawal of the schemes could lead to warming rates up to 20 times faster than those today.
