Climate models are not all at sea
To date, many researchers have believed that climate models underestimate the variability in ocean heat content. But new research indicates that climate models can reproduce much of the variability seen in measurements of ocean temperature, as long as they take into account the effects of volcanic eruptions, changes in observational coverage, and instrumentation bias.
