Waves gather pace as oceans warm
Researchers at the University of Victoria in Canada have shown that giant planetary waves could be travelling 35% faster across the world's oceans by 2100, because of climate change. What's more, the waves are probably already moving nearly 10% faster than their pre-industrial rate. The increased speed may affect the dynamics of marine nutrients, carbon exchange, large ocean currents and weather.
