Extraterrestrial team challenges palaeoclimatologists
A team at Caltech, US, looking for life on other planets has raised an intriguing question for palaeoclimatologists. King-Fai Li and colleagues believe that a decrease in atmospheric pressure might extend the life of Earth's biosphere a further 2300 million years into the future by reducing the effects of greenhouse gases. Their views also have implications for the search for extraterrestrial life.
