Forest protection measures must cover whole region
At first glance, Vietnam appears to be one of the few success stories when it comes to preventing destruction of tropical forests. Since 1992 the country has moved from net deforestation to net reforestation with forest cover increasing by roughly 13%. The change followed the introduction of policy measures such as restriction of logging in natural forests and a ban on the export of raw logs.
