Shifting winds

Zonal winds are shifting southward and intensifying as a consequence of increasing northern hemisphere aerosols. Comparison of linear trends of zonal mean wind stress from two sets of ensemble climate model experiments (run from 1941 to 2000): (a) ALL (which includes all forcings like greenhouse gases, ozone, volcanic + human-generated aerosols and solar variations) and (b) AXA (which is all forcings, except for human-generated aerosols). Units are in N m-2 per 60 years.
