Landscape affects malaria risk
Malaria outbreak patterns may vary as climate changes depending on regional differences in surface water. So say researchers in the US and France who have compared the incidence of the disease in the Amazon Basin with records of precipitation and temperature. The finding, which goes against current model predictions, could be important for reducing the risk of malaria transmission in certain places.
